Winter Guard UpdatesWinterguard 2024 is ready to start!!! Meet and Spin will take place on both Wednesday, November 1st and Monday, November 6th from 6-9pm in the CV 9GC Gym. Please plan to attend at least one, preferably both nights. Wear comfortable, athletic clothes that you can move in. An informational meeting for ALL parents and performers will take place at 7pm on Wednesday, November 8th during the first regular season rehearsal.

Guard NEWS!!!
2017 Season
The guards are pleased to annouced their shows for this season. CV Red's show is titled "Circle of Love" and will be performing to Loggins & Messina's "Danny's Song". Scholastic A's show is titled "Alone in Camelot" and will be performing to Susan Boyle's haunting remake of "Wish You Were Here". The members of CV Red brought home another gold medal and Regional A State Championship in the MCGC. Then fifteen member Scholastic A group were WGI Flint Regional Finalists and brought home the bronze medal at MCGC State Championships in their class.
2016 Season
In 2016 we had two smaller, but mighty performance groups. The ten member Scholastic A returned to their traditional style show and performed "Grand Central"; a tribute to those lost on 9/11. They were WGI Flint Regional Finalists and brought home a bronze medal at MCGC State Championships. The nine members of CV Red performed their show "Dance With Me" and brought home another gold medal and Regional A State Championship for the MCGC.
2015 Season
In 2015 Scholastic A took their show in a different direction and performed the more upbeat and fast paced "Cerchio" with 19 members. They once again performed at WGI in Dayton, OH. CV Red performed their show titled "Forever My Angel" and were promoted to the Scholastic AA Class. Both groups had a fantastic season.
2014 Season
The 2014 season was one of our biggest seasons yet, with 30 performers between the two groups. Scholastic A performed their show titled "Romeo & Juliet" with 14 members. They earned a bronze medal at the MCGC State Championships and had their best performance of the season at WGI World Championships in Dayton. CV Red performed their show titled "Wait For Me" with 16 members. The received a silver medal at the MCGC State Championships.

2013 Season a HUGE success
The 2013 Winterguard season showcased the talents of 27 performers. Scholastic A performed their show titled "June 6, 1944" with 17 members. They earned a silver medal at the MCGC State Championships and advanced to the semi-final round at Winter Guard International World Championships in Dayton, OH. CV Red performed their show titled "Just the Way You" Are with 10 members. They received a gold medal and were crowned the Regional A State Champions in the MCGC. Congratulations to both groups!
2011 Winter Guard Season a Success
With what seemed like a transitional year for Chippewa Valley for Winter Guard ended up being a year of growth! The Chippewa Valley Winter Guard ended their season on a great note as 8th place winners at MCGC State Finals. A slew of new guard members joined on this past year with driving enthusiasm to catch on quick - and they did. This guard's show grew into a spectacular performance with poise they should be proud of!

Chippewa Valley High School Winter Guard placed third for Scholastic A division at Michigan Color Guard Circuit (MCGC) State Championships held on Saturday, March 27th at Saginaw Valley State University. The team did a fabulous show and has improved their score at each performance earning a score of 77 on Saturday. They will travel to Dayton, Ohio for the Winter Guard International World Championship show April 8-11. The Prizm guard team also competed improving their score and placing 12th in the Regional A division. Over 1,800 students performed at this year's show and nine scholarships were awarded.

Color Guard grows to 24 for Marching Band 2011 Season!
The Color Guard for the 2011 Marching Band season grew to 24 members bringing poised color and great overall effect to the Marching Band show. The Color Guard, including seven members with rifles, continually improved thanks to their hard work and the patience of their coaches Lisa Passmore and Don Sheldon. They received a first place ranking at the Trenton SMB show and then improved their score each time ending with a score of 87 with a third place at the DeWitt SMB Show. They will join the Marching Band on Woodward Avenue for the 11th consecutive year that Chippewa Valley will march Thanksgiving morning in the Detroit Thanksgiving Parade. In the spring of 2012 the Marching Band & Color Guard will perform several times during a week tour to Florida.
CVHS Winter Guard returns from WGI World Championships as Semi Finalists
The Chippewa Valley High School Winter Guard returned from participating in the Winter Guard International World Championships in Dayton, Ohio where they scored an 80.8 out of 100 in Scholastic A prelims qualifying them to perform in semi finals. There were over 11,000 students from High Schools and Universities throughout the world competing April 8-10 with the farthest being from the Netherlands.
Chippewa's show, written and choreographed by their coach Rob Ardelan was called The Rebirth of the Dying Swan. The music was from the Ballet - The Dying Swan. The guard began with hooded costumes portraying sad, emotional swans who were slowly approaching death only to have the music change to a fun, bright and alive tempo creating the rebirth with smiles, feathers, confetti and the excitement of saber and flag spinning skills.
