So that there is minimal confusion regarding uniforms and proper attire for the Marching Band season, the information below will help:
Football Games --
1st game -- Summer Attire
All others -- Marching Band Uniform (weather permitting)
Competitions --
Marching Band Uniform
Parades --
Richmond Parade -- Summer Attire
Peach Festival -- Summer Attire
Thanksgiving -- Marching Band Uniform (and lots of thermal under clothing)
Concerts/Band Festivals -- Concert Attire
At football games and competitions; after performing, students change out of their uniforms and sit in the bleachers together as a band. They must wear either their show t-shirt, red band polo shirt, band hoodie, or band jacket. Obviously the first two items work well in warm weather. But when it turns cold, they most likely will need at least a band hoodie (most of the kids wear these).
Also, please note that all hair must go under the helmet - including the boys! Students need to bring their own hair ties, clips, hair nets, bobby pins, etc... from home to accomplish this. Jewelry is not allowed so leave it home as you will be asked to remove it. Girls, please remove nail polish as your nails do show when playing your instrument with your summer attire or sitting in the bleachers.
PARENTS: Please help your student each time they leave for a performance. Ask them if they have their socks, shoes, white t-shirt, white gloves, bobby pins, etc. If they come without the proper attire, they will be asked to call home for you to bring them their supplies. We do not have enough extra uniform parts to be giving them out because of forgetfulness. Marching band uniforms, helmets, and concert attire never go home with the students. Students must wear their white t-shirt or show t-shirt underneath their uniform at all times.
REMEMBER - YOU REPRESENT YOUR SCHOOL.
