Fifth Annual MCGC Invitational to be held at CVHS!
Can you believe it - Once again Chippewa Valley will host a Winter Guard/DrumLine Invitational. Keep March 3, 2012 open on your calendar so you can be involved! If you've never seen a Winter Guard or Percussion show we can say that it's thrilling to watch and we encourage everyone to join us at CVHS to cheer on our students!
Color Guard grows to 24 for Marching Band 2011 Season!
The Color Guard for the 2011 Marching Band season grew to 24 members bringing poised color and great overall effect to the Marching Band show. The Color Guard, including seven members with rifles, continually improved thanks to their hard work and the patience of their coaches Lisa Passmore and Don Sheldon. They received a first place ranking at the Trenton SMB show and then improved their score each time ending with a score of 87 with a third place at the DeWitt SMB Show. They will join the Marching Band on Woodward Avenue for the 11th consecutive year that Chippewa Valley will march Thanksgiving morning in the Detroit Thanksgiving Parade. In the spring of 2012 the Marching Band & Color Guard will perform several times during a week tour to Florida.
2011 Winter Guard Season a Success
With what seemed like a transitional year for Chippewa Valley for Winter Guard ended up being a year of growth! The Chippewa Valley Winter Guard ended their season on a great note as 8th place winners at MCGC State Finals. A slew of new guard members joined on this past year with driving enthusiasm to catch on quick - and they did. This guard's show grew into a spectacular performance with poise they should be proud of!

Winter Guard places 3rd at MCGC State Championships
Chippewa Valley High School Winter Guard placed third for Scholastic A division at Michigan Color Guard Circuit (MCGC) State Championships held on Saturday, March 27th at Saginaw Valley State University. The team did a fabulous show and has improved their score at each performance earning a score of 77 on Saturday. They will travel to Dayton, Ohio for the Winter Guard International World Championship show April 8-11. The Prizm guard team also competed improving their score and placing 12th in the Regional A division. Over 1,800 students performed at this year's show and nine scholarships were awarded.
CVHS Winter Guard returns from WGI World Championships as Semi Finalists
The Chippewa Valley High School Winter Guard returned from participating in the Winter Guard International World Championships in Dayton, Ohio where they scored an 80.8 out of 100 in Scholastic A prelims qualifying them to perform in semi finals. There were over 11,000 students from High Schools and Universities throughout the world competing April 8-10 with the farthest being from the Netherlands.
Chippewa's show, written and choreographed by their coach Rob Ardelan was called The Rebirth of the Dying Swan. The music was from the Ballet - The Dying Swan. The guard began with hooded costumes portraying sad, emotional swans who were slowly approaching death only to have the music change to a fun, bright and alive tempo creating the rebirth with smiles, feathers, confetti and the excitement of saber and flag spinning skills.
Chippewa Valley High School has participated in this Sport of the Arts for almost one decade and continues to improve and grow each year. This year's Scholastic A team consisted of four seniors, Amanda Dillard, Rachel Kolling, Alyssa Honeycutt and Jen Froberg others included Jenna Dodson, Rachel Stahl, Danielle Cerulli, Alexis Lim, Diana Gorvokovic, Marisa Moro and Alisha Huyge. This year's staff included Director Sharon Maclean, Coach Rob Ardelan, and Assistant Dana Jankowski.
